A Little Information About Me

Hi everybody,

My name is LaRhonda Glover. I am from a small town named Holly Springs, MS. I am thrilled to further my knowledge in teaching Middle School. Today, I am going to be giving you brief information about myself.

L stands for Leadership. I have very well established my leadership qualities throughout the years of learning to be a teacher. I have volunteered in numerous of schools in my local community as well as local elementary and middle schools in Starkville, MS. I am also the Academic Coordinator for ResLife here at Mississippi State University encouraging Freshman students to attend classes.

A stands for Aspiring. My biggest goal in life is to become a great educator. I have had a passion for teaching every since I was a teenager. I remember staying after school with my grandmother playing teacher with other students. Even though I did not know the "ins" and "outs" of teaching, I really enjoyed helping others with their homework or daily assignments. When I first graduated high school, I knew that I wanted to practice law. Even though in the state of Mississippi Ole Miss has the best Law School program, I could not resist becoming a bulldog here at Mississippi State University. As a entering freshman, my major was Political Science. Unfortunately, I did not enjoy the classes a Political Science major was required to take, so that lead me to my first major change to Secondary Education. I thouhgt I would like teaching high school because those were the grades that my grandmother taught, during her days of teahcing. Sadly after deep consideration and bad experiences, I chose my true calling to be an elementary education teacher. I am currently a pre-service teacher in my middle block of education. The smiles on each student that I have encountered motivated me to become a teacher. I enjoy being of help to all of the students.

R stands for Responsible. I am a very responsible person. I feel like everyone should be able to take responsibility of their action. In my goals in life, it is my responsibility to accomplish all of my goals in life. In this classroom, I have 2 goals that I want to accomplish as a student and a person. My first goal is to pass this course with an A as my final grade. In order to accomplish this goal, I will have to complete all of the assignments on time and prepare for all of my tests. My second goal is to learn about young adolescences. Honestly, I want to be more intrigue with middle school because there is a big possibility that I might have to teach within those grades my first year as an educator.

O stands for Overachiever. Even though I have established goals, I still have more specific things to learn within this course such as learning about the different techniques for teaching young adolescences. I want to learn how to create a community that will invite a young adolescences in my classroom and want to learn about various of subjects. I want to learn more about the different curricular as well.

N stands for Nurture.  I think I am a quite a nurturing person especially when comes to children. I have observe many teachers, and I feel as though we all have that same bond when it comes to students in classroom or just around the campus. Middle school teachers, in particularly, have great ways to motivate and encourage their students. I like how some teachers gave their students the responsibility to create their own expectation. I remember in 5th grade, my teacher allowed the entire class to create expectations for everyone in the classroom. Some middle school teachers integrate a lot of their plans to real world situations, so students can relate more often to the lesson. Every, so often, middle teachers will discuss situations that may happen in the world or in the community in order to inspire the students to engage in a classroom discussion.

D stands for Determination. I am a determined little lady. I am very set on finishing and completing my goals and tasks I may set to finish. Some middle school teachers lack determination. I observed a teacher once who actually gave up on improving her classroom's behavior. She did not take the time to teach each student how to act like a young adolescent. I have also witnessed a middle school teacher delivering information about a topic very poorly because it was not her favorite subject. The demeanor of her feelings were plastered on her face, through facial expressions. Middle school teachers have to remember to instill determination in the students through role model.

A stands for Action. I will bring action, excitement, and laughter to this classroom. I am not the class clown or anything of that nature. I just like to cheer up my peers if they are down about something. I am very active throughout my class. I will bring a piece of action to the classroom. I offer that sense of relaxation and not always so tensed about a class. I will help my peers make the best of this summer course.
